Phil Holden is an internationally published photographer with awards for his both his sports and nature photographs. His work, which spans more than 40 years of professional photography, explores new angles and lighting combining a creative approach with each client’s requirements. His career began in London in the 80's with sports promotional photography campaigns before moving to the coast on Gower to concentrate on water photography of surfing and windsurfing. With an eye for detail, split second timing and a broad knowledge of tides, location and light he has made water and nature photography his life’s specialisation. Through his freelance work, Phil has contributed to magazines and publications worldwide including The Times, Surf Science books, Stormrider Guides, Boards, Windsurf Magazine, Nautical Quarterly, GQ Magazine, Surfer’s Journal, The Picture Book, etc.  He is a regular contributor to Carve and surfing and windsurfing publications worldwide. Phil has worked with top sportsmen and women at all levels.  He was Editor / Principal Photographer for Edge and Surf Magazines and is the author and photographer of the book All Action Wind and Surf. In 2012 Phil was an accredited photographer at the London Olympics covering the sailing and windsurfing. He lives in Mumbles, Wales with his wife Sara, an artist. In addition to commissioned work, exhibitions, and studio photography, he also runs outdoor photography workshops (small groups by arrangement). Phil believes that his photographs should speak for themselves with their lively themes, colours and compositions. He is one of the artists with the annual Gower Open Studios Trail.
